Festival of the Forest

This family day out on 19 June – on Monstay Farm in the beautiful Mortimer Forest (pictured) on the Herefordshire/Shropshire border – is a celebration of forestry crafts, products and wildlife. The Festival of the Forest will offer demonstrations – including how to build a timber house in a day – plus activities from wooden bowl carving to pot throwing with clay from the forest, and stalls selling plants and local food and drink.

Save the Date! Sunday 19th June 2022. For the public attending the event, children under 12 are free, and adults £5 per head. 

It is £25 for a plot to set up your stall (please bring a table, chair and overhead covering). 

The Festival of the Forest is a wonderful day out for all the family. It is a celebration of woodland arts and crafts, there will be live displays – including the building of a traditional hut from natural materials in a day – and plenty of food and drinks. 

You can visit the retail stands, watch demonstrations, speak to environmental organisations, buy plants for your garden, and the day with your family in the beautiful Mortimer Forest.

Come to see the National Trust, Shropshire Wildlife Trust, Herefordshire Wildlife Trust, Forestry England, and us, the Friends of Mortimer Forest. Watch a green woodworking display, learn how to carve a wooden bowl, see how a long-bow is made, find out how to make an coracle.

Take part in the festival of the forest on Sunday 11th June. The day event is a celebration of woodland arts, craft, food and drink, education and entertainment. A fun day for all the family. Simply fill in the form below, and add you message and we will be in touch with details about securing a plot to sell your goods or services at the festival. It is £25 for a stall space for the day (10am-4pm), with set up on 10th June. All exhibitors and vendors will need to bring a table and chairs, marketing material and overhead covering and generator if needed. There is parking and toilets on site.

If you are travelling far to come to the Festival of the Forest next Sunday there is camping and glamping available to book at Monstay Farm where the event is taking place. It is highly rated and recommended.

Festival of the Forest Sunday June 19th 2022

The Friends of Mortimer Forest the new woodland charity spanning South Shropshire and North Herefordshire will be holding an inaugural celebration of this unique landscape on June 19th 2022, at Monstay Farm Pipe Aston.
The festival will include traditional woodland craft demonstrations, arena events trade stands and vintage tractor and forestry equipment
The woodland crafts will include green woodworking, gate making and charcoal burning. An exciting project undertaken during the day by The Shropshire Skills Trust will be to construct a small charcoal burners hut and have smoke rising from the chimney by late afternoon.

Tickets on sale on the door: adults £5, children under 12 are free.
